Flood victims in Perak and Kedah continue sheltering at relief centres as water levels remain above normal in affected areas.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 453 flood victims from 114 families remain sheltered at temporary relief centres in Perak and Kedah as of this morning.

In Perak, the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that 124 people from 33 families in Kampung Padang Serai are still being housed at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai.

Yesterday, the State Civil Defence Force reported that floodwaters in the affected areas have yet to fully subside.

Excess water from Sungai Rotan in Taiping to Manjung remains above normal levels.

APM said water levels are expected to recede completely within a week.

This timeline depends on weather conditions and the flow rate from Sungai Rotan.

Kedah JPBN reported that the number of flood victims remained unchanged this morning.

A total of 329 individuals from 81 families still take shelter at three temporary relief centres in the Pendang district.

These centres are located at Dewan Kompleks Rakan Sukan Tanah Merah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Ayer Puteh, and SK Tunku Intan Shafinaz.

The flood victims consist of residents from 32 villages across seven sub-districts in the area.

Affected sub-districts include Rambai, Ayer Puteh, Padang Pusing, Padang Peliang, Padang Kerbau, Guar Kepayang, and Tobiar. – Bernama
