FGV restarts plantation work after Terengganu state extends a land remediation deadline to January 2026, easing settler income concerns.
KUALA TERENGGANU: FGV Holdings has resumed plantation operations after the Terengganu state government extended a key remediation deadline.
The new deadline under a National Land Code notice is now January 7, 2026, suspending an earlier order.
In a joint statement, the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) and FGV said they can now refocus on enhancing yields and supporting settler incomes.
“This development comes as a major relief to the settlers, who for several weeks have faced uncertainty regarding their income, their future and livelihood,” the statement read.
It noted the move restores confidence among settlers and workers while ensuring local economic stability.
FELDA and FGV expressed appreciation for the Terengganu government’s professional commitment to continued discussions.
State Secretary Datuk Zulkifli Ali confirmed the deadline extension yesterday following constructive negotiation progress.
The dispute involves land operated by FELDA across approximately 15,000 hectares in 10 plantations.
The Terengganu government had issued notices alleging development for over 40 years without premium payments, tax, or profit sharing.
Notices were served to plantation management in Setiu, Besut, Kemaman, Marang, Dungun and Hulu Terengganu.
