1,129 summonses issued in Selangor 'red light' operation

KLANG: The Selangor police today issued 1,129 summonses in a "Red Light Operation" carried out at 16 locations in the state in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
Its Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department acting head, DSP Sahimi Husin said beating traffic lights topped the list of traffic offences in the two-hour operation which ended at noon.
Some 281 summonses were issued for the offence, followed by driving or riding without licence with 193 summonses, he told reporters after the operation in Meru here today.
Also present was North Klang district police chief ACP Mazelan Paijan.
Sahimi said other offences were driving or riding without valid road tax disc (130 summonses), no side mirror (151), not wearing helmet (107), registration number not in accordance with specification (106) and miscellaneous traffic offences (161).
A total of 34 motorcycles were impounded for various offences, he added. — Bernama
