Myanmar man jailed, fined for stealing a can of alcoholic drink

    KUALA LUMPUR: A Myanmar national was today sentenced to a month's jail and fined RM100, in default a month's jail, for stealing a can of alcoholic drink, worth RM7.
    Magistrate Saifulakmal Said handed down the sentence on Biak Mhun, 24, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
    Biak Mhun, 24, was charged with stealing a can of Danish Royal Stout at the Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock KK Mart branch here at 4.30 pm three days ago (Oct 20).
    In mitigation, the accused, who was unrepresented, apologised for his doing.
    In the same court, a Bangladeshi electrician broke down in the dock after he was sentenced to three months' jail for causing hurt with a knife on a countryman.
    Saifulakmal handed down the sentence on Mridha Del Chan, 40, to be served from the date of arrest, which was last Oct 13, after the latter pleaded guilty to the charge.
    Mridha was charged with committing the offence on Sheikh Farid, 40, at their house at Jalan Medan Putra 6, Medan Putra, Bandar Manjalara here at 8 am last Oct 13.
    Deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa prosecuted in both the cases. – Bernama
