PM calls on three ailing Umno veterans in Pekan

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today called on three ailing Umno veterans in his Pekan parliamentary constituency.
They are Datuk Seri Ghazali Kasim, 83, and Datin Zamzam Abdul Samah, 81, of Kampung Parit Tengah and Abdul Rahman Ahmad, 76, of Peramu Jaya 3.
Ghazali is a former permanent chairman of the Pekan Umno Division, and has been suffering from Parkinson's disease over the past 10 years.
Zamzam is a former permanent chairman of the Pekan Wanita Umno Division while Abdul Rahman is a former member of the Information Committee of the Pekan Umno Division.
Najib, accompanied by several people, arrived at the home of Ghazali at 9.40am.
Ghazali who served as a teacher for 25 years, married to Datin Seri Razmah Zainuddin, 79, and related to Najib, said he was touched by the visit of the prime minister who came a-calling to enquire on his health.
Najib then went on to Zamzam's house, located just 20m away and she was happy that Najib kept in touch with Umno veterans like herself.
Abdul Rahman in Peramu Jaya 3 said: "He (Najib) is a leader who likes to help people without question. I did not think that he will call on me. Thank you very much," said the former headman of Kampung Peramu Jaya.
Najib also attended the wedding of the daughter of Pekan Umno Division Religious Bureau chairman Datuk Mohamad Ariffin Daud.
Norhana, 29, was wedded to Mohd Faizal Abdul Talib, also 29. Both of them,engineers at an automotive company here, had become acquainted in 2008. – Bernama
