KUALA LUMPUR: The corporatisation of the Malaysian Royal Customs Department next year will boost the department, as what happened to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan told the Dewan Rakyat today that the IRB had contributed to high revenues to the nation after it was corporatised.
"Other than increasing the tax collection, corporatisation can also raise staff productivity," he said in reply to a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (BN-Pengerang) on plans to corporatise the Customs Department.
Ahmad said work to corporatise the department was being carried out. – Bernama
