Appreciate the young, Umno Youth leaders told

KUALA LUMPUR: The challenge facing the Umno Youth in realising the "Party Rejuvenation" agenda is to produce leaders who are open and capable of appreciating the idealism of the young generations.
Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun said it was crucial for leaders to have an open attitude to enable them to understand the young people.
"The (young people) want leaders to appreciate their idealism," he said when met by Bernama today.
He said it was also important for leaders to have an open attitude as this would bring them closer to their followers.
Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, in his policy speech when opening the 2014 Umno general assembly, said Umno must create "Jil Umno", the future
leaders of the party whose fighting spirit is tantamount to the fighting spirit of Umno leaders who were there on the day Umno was born.
Towards that end, Khairul Azwan said the Umno Youth had its pool of talents who were being trained to become leaders at the Captain Hussein Leadership
Academy.
However, the rejuvenation agenda should be translated through the participation of the young people at the party branch and divisional levels, and also in the government, he added.
