Police nab four suspects after car chase in JB

    JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested four suspects who tried to rob a senior citizen at Jalan Serampang in Taman Pelangi early today.
    Johor Baru (Selatan) district police chief Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh said the 75-year-old man who was driving a Kenari was forced to stop by six men in the incident which happened at about 6.30am on Friday.
    The victim was beaten up in the incident, after which the six suspects - three men and three women who came in a white Hyundai Starex, drove off with his car. The Kenari was subsequently found abandoned at Jalan Landak in Taman Century.
    A police patrol car that was patrolling the Majidee area, gave chase after being alerted about the incident.
    The suspects rammed into several cars at Jalan Bunga Ros in Majidee, and were forced to flee by foot when the two front tyres of the car were punctured in the incident.
    As all the six suspects attempted to escape, police gave chase and managed to arrest the three female suspects aged between 15 to 23 years-old.
    A 23 year-old male suspect who was hiding in the bushes was also nabbed by police.
    One male suspect fled to a nearby house and asked for a drink and a lift to a place where he could hail a taxi. However, when the house owner went in to inform her son about it, the suspect drove-off in her car.
    The woman subsequently lodged a report at the Majidee police station.
    The senior citizen who suffered slash wounds to his neck was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital. He is reported to be in a stable condition. He had RM15,000 in cash with him when he struggled with the suspects, but they didn't manage to steal the money.
    Initial investigations revealed that the Hyundai Starex was reported as missing in Yong Peng.
    Police have expressed confidence in nabbing the two suspects still at large under "Ops Kesan".
