JOHOR BARU: Sahabat Rakyat Malaysia's central working committee has called on Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees Association) to open its Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for the benefit of public school students.
Presidium member Choo Shinn Chei said this in a press conference here today.
He said opening the UEC exam for the public should be an agenda for the transformation of Chinese independent schools. If it becomes an open examination, it will help to promote the learning of mother tongue language education at secondary school level.
He also urged the Dong Zong to take the initiative to foster good ties with political parties and non-government organisations of the Indian community and Sabah and Sarawak, in fighting for the right of mother tongue language education.
Earlier, the committee appealed to the two top leaders of Dong Zong, its president Yap Sin Tian and deputy president Chow Siew Hon, to resign from their posts.
