ALOR STAR: The body of a man found buried at the Charok Temingat forest reserve near Tasik Pedu has been identified as 28-year-old Ong Teik Beng.
Kedah CID chief ACP Mohd Nashir Ya said police traced the deceased to Sungai Ara in Penang.
He said the post-mortem result showed Ong died from sharp force trauma to the neck.
"The case is being investigated for murder under the Penal Code," he said in a statement today.
Police found the body after local residents alerted the authorities when they were at the area searching for "kelulut" (stingless bee) honey.
The honey searchers notified police after finding a plot on the ground which had been dug and filled up.
Meanwhile in GEORGE TOWN, Penang CID chief Datuk Mazlan Kesah said he had yet to receive the full details of the case from his Kedah counterpart.
"We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kedah contingent," he said when contacted.
Attempts to speak to the family were not successful as no one was at home when theSun visited the flat.
