Sigve Brekke new Telenor Group CEO

PETALING JAYA: Telenor Group has appointed Digi.com Bhd's chairman Sigve Brekke (pix) as the group's new president and CEO effective Aug 17, 2015.
Telenor said Brekke will be succeeding Jon Fredrik Baksaas, who has been serving as Telenor's president and CEO for 13 years.
Having joined Telenor in 1999, Brekke has held several executive positions in the group. Currently, he is the executive vice president and head of Telenor's Asia operations.
"His leading role in our Asian success story combined with his vast international experience and leadership capabilities will be of great value as the company continues its profitable growth journey," said Telenor chairman Svein Aaser.
Under Brekke's leadership, Telenor has added more than 100 million subscribers in Asia. The value creation from Asia has been significant and the region now represents more than 40% of the total enterprise value of Telenor group.
Telenor Asia Pte Ltd owns a 49% stake in Digi.
