BUTTERWORTH: It was a calm and sombre atmosphere as more than hundreds turned up to pay last respects to Bangkok blast victim, Lim Su See, 52, during her funeral at her home in Taman Dedap today.
It was a heart-wrenching moment when some family members and close relatives wept as Taoism funeral rites were carried out by a priest.
Su See's son, Lu Pinquan, 24, who held a brave front, was seen keeping his composure and remained calm throughout the rites and praying process.
Lu, a computer science student in Singapore Institute of Technology, appeared grief stricken and lost when he bowed thrice as a mark of respect to his mother.
Bands alongside a drum troupe also filled the sadness before the casket bearing Su See's remains was wheeled out and loaded into a hearse about 11.15am.
Pin Quan's father Wai Leong, 58, was also present to pay respect to his ex-wife during the funeral service.
Also present were Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's political-secretary Wong Hon Wai, Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Boon Poh, Batu Kawan MP P.Kasthuri, Sungai Puyu Barisan Nasional (BN) coordinator Sum Yoo Keong and others.
Su See's remains were later cremated at the Berapit crematorium.
Su See's sister Lim Saw Gek, 49, and nephew Neoh Jai Jun, 20, will be buried at the Sungai Lembu cemetery in Bukit Mertajam.
On Friday, victims Lee Tze Siang, 35, and his four year old daughter Jing Xuan were also given a final send-off and were cremated at the Berapit crematorium.
The five perished in Monday's bomb blast near the Erawan shrine in Bangkok which is a popular tourism destination among locals and tourists alike.
Two others who survived were Saw Gek's husband Neoh Hock Guan, 55, and their daughter Ee Ling, 33.
