Bersih 4: Tun M makes surprise appearance

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made a surprise appearance at the Bersih 4.0 rally when he arrived at Dataran Merdeka today.
Prior his arrival, the crowd at Dataran Merdeka was starting to loosen up, but Mahahir's appearance seemed to have galvanised them back to the iconic square.
Mahathir, who arrived at around 7.20pm, was accompanied by his wife Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
His arrival was met with loud roars and rally goers ushered him into the main square of Dataran Merdeka.
Security guards had a tough time trying to keep the rowdy crowd a distance from the former premier, with the situation almost becoming uncontrollable.
There were also a lot of pushing and shoving among the rally goers as they tried to get close to Mahathir and the security guards had to push the crowd back to make room for Mahathir's walkabout.
When asked by reporters on whether her was participating in the rally, Mahathir said: "I just came here to see."
He left at around 7.40pm with the crowd cheering and shouting "Bersih" and "Undur Najib".
