KUALA LUMPUR: A voice clip of MIC vice-president Datuk S. Saravanan lambasting a Tamil language journalist, Rajeswari Ganesan, has gone viral with shares in the thousands.
In the three-minute audio clip Saravan criticised Rajeswari, a senior journalist with Malaysian Nanban, for allegedly reporting "lies".
She had alleged that Saravan and another MIC leader had gone to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to get it to endorse the election of Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
Saravanan, who is also Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, claimed he was away at the said time.
"How could I have gone to the RoS if I was away," he said in the clip that had received over 50,000 shares by noon today.
"Journalists must check their facts before they write ... she (Rajeswari) has been lambasting us for no reasons," he said.
He slammed her by saying not to practice such "shameful journalism" by spreading lies.
Saravanan even threw a dare at her saying he would resign as deputy minister and MIC vice-president if she can prove that he went to the RoS.
Supporters of Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, who is a rival of Dr Subramaniam, have backed Rajeswari saying he could have corrected her instead of referring to her profession.
They said Saravanan should apologise for allegedly using "vulgar" words.
Saravan, in the clip hurled that there are more honorable professions that the journalist could do instead of "writing lies" and towards the end of the clipping he allegedly said she could grow chillis.
