Shahrizat: Anina to face action

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (pix) today stressed that the decision by Anina Saauddin from the Langkawi Umno division to sue the prime minister was done in her personal capacity and does not represent the party.
“I’ll make it clear. Her statement doesn’t reflect the feelings of Wanita Umno. She has the right to voice her view, but not to represent Umno.
“She does not even represent the division, so how can she represent Umno? Maybe she has a personal agenda or vendetta, I do not know,” Shahrizat told reporters after a Barisan Nasional women’s wing meeting at PWTC today.
She pointed out that party members are not supposed to do anything that could go against the party’s constitution, and said the matter will be discussed in detail in the next Wanita Umno exco meeting.
Shahrizat said she will refer Anina to the party disciplinary committee.
“Be it Anina or anybody else, if you break the law, you must go through a legal process that is clear and explicit.
“She is a member now, but the process will have to begin soon. This, we will leave to the disciplinary committee.”
On the BN women’s wing meeting, Shahrizat said all its leaders and representatives were unanimous in supporting Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak as the prime minister and BN president.
She said feedback showed that the majority of the people still supports Najib’s leadership.
“We represent the voice of the grassroots and will continue to support Najib.”
She said the wing was also saddened and disappointed that former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad decided to attend the Bersih 4 rally last weekend.
