Women missionaries found active in Putrajaya: Tengku Adnan

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pix) has revealed the existence of groups claiming to be missionaries here and seeking people's addresses purportedly to be used for voter registrations for the past six months.
What was more surprising, said the Putrajaya Member of Parliament, was that the group comprised women, which should not even happen in the first place.
"We were surprised because missionaries should be males, but the ones we have traced in Putrajaya were women.
"What disappoints me is that they entered residents' houses not to bring the teachings of Islam, but they wanted to ask the residents' permission for their home addresses to be used by outsiders to become voters in Putrajaya," he said.
Tengku Adnan said this to reporters after officiating a conference of the chairmen, administrators and officers of mosques and suraus in the Putrajaya parliamentary constituency here, today.
Elaborating further, Tengku Adnan said the group that claimed to be missionaries would not only ask for the addresses, but also spread propaganda and lies about the country's leadership.
"I asked the mosque in Sri Petaling if they had sent people to Putrajaya or not, because whenever they sent someone I would be notified.
"But this time I was told that the mosque had nothing to do with it, but certain political parties were implementing this in Putrajaya," he said, advising people in other areas to be careful.
He added that he had informed the matter to the Election Commission (EC) and warned the group that a police report would be made if they continued to pursue such activities. – Bernama
