157 motorcyclists summoned in New Year operation in Taiping

TAIPING: A total of 157 summonses were issued to motorcyclists in an operation in conjunction with the New Year in Kamunting and around Taiping town here.
Acting District Police Head, Supt Razlam Ab Hamid said the summonses were for various offences such as riding without a licence, expired road tax, number plates not according to the stipulated conditions, riding without side mirror and riding modified motorcycles.
"We are detaining the impounded motorcycle first and we will call up the parents of the rider (of the impounded motorcycle) before issuing the summons," he said at a media conference at the Taiping District Police Headquarters, here today.
Meanwhile, Razlam said police detained a 15-year-old male student and an unemployed 18-year-old male for possession of 0.5g of the Ketamine drugs at an entertainment outlet here last night.
"They were both detained during a check carried out at the entertainment centre," he added. – Bernama
