KUALA LUMPUR: Cerebral palsy-stricken 16-year-old Muhammad Firdaus Dullah (pix) who made the news last year after being found in a deplorable condition, passed away today.
The boy drew attention after he was found neglected, covered in his own faeces and urine at a low-cost flat in a house Taman Semarak, Nilai.
He passed away at about 1pm today due to convulsions.
He had earlier fainted at the Sinar Harapan Welfare Home and died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.
His mother, Lolanopita Sadi, was charged under Section 31 (1) (a) and Section 33 (c) of the Child Act 2001 for neglecting the boy and was sentenced to four months' imprisonment.
Firdaus weighed less than 15kg when the Negri Sembilan Immigration Department found him and was rushed to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban.
He was then taken care by former babysitter Norfitri Radius who had earlier quit looking after the child in 2011 after her husband moved to Gemencheh for work.
