KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has recorded the statement of 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) former president Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi in a meeting held today.
PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said the committee's proceeding has heard Shahrol Azral's statement on the management of 1MDB since its inception as the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) until the official formation of 1MDB in September 2009.
"PAC has also heard Shahrol Azral's statement on the establishment of a joint venture company between 1MDB and Petrosaudi.
"However, Shahrol Azral has to provide his statement again before the committee on Nov 30 at 10.30am as some information needs to be submitted again to the PAC before the hearing of 1MDB's current president Arul Kanda Kandasamy takes place," he said in a statement.
PAC is expected to hold a hearing involving several 1MDB key players in the coming weeks including Arul Kanda on Dec 1.
PAC's proceeding today was the fourth involving the debt-ridden company. The other three were held on May 19, June 10 and June 17.
"PAC believes that the investigation must be conducted comprehensively by calling in all witnesses to ensure the committee's report is transparent, holistic and fair," he said.
Hasan said PAC hopes to table the report on 1MDB in Parliament by March 2016 at the latest.
