PETALING JAYA: Motorists have three months until Feb 29 to settle their outstanding compounds with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) failing which they will be blacklisted.
Mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, in announcing the move today, said this means that they will not be able to renew their road tax should they refuse to do so.
He added the outstanding amount due was for the period between 1999 and 2004.
Speaking at a press conference after chairing the council's monthly full board meeting here, he said some 1.4 million compounds have been issued and discounts of 80% would be given.
As an example, he said in 2012 the compound for a parking offence was RM100 but during this three-month campaign period it will be reduced to RM10.
Payments can be made at MBPJ's counter and those wanting to amount they needed to settle can find it on the website.
