180 victims evacuated after flash flood hits Gemenceh, Gemas

    SEREMBAN: A total of 184 victims were evacuated to two relief centres in Gemenceh and Air Kuning Selatan, Gemas after their homes were inundated under about 1.2 metres of water following continuous heavy rain since yesterday.
    Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department Director Norazam Khamis said all the victims were evacuated at 12am after the department received the distress call.
    He said two fire and rescue stations namely in Tampin and Gemas involving 30 personnel were deployed to assist in the evacuation operation.
    "The Tampin station helped in the operations in Gemenceh while the Gemas station assisted in Air Kuning (Selatan). In Gemenceh, we managed to evacuate about 80 victims while in Air Kuning (Selatan) about 100 victims were evacuated.
    "However, at 7am today we managed to evacuate four victims in Air Kuning (Selatan) to a temporary relief centre," he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
    The two temporary relief centres were Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Datuk Mohd Taha in Gemenceh and Balairaya Kampung Parit Buloh in Air Kuning Selatan. – Bernama
