Ex-convict dies in burglary attempt

    JOHOR BARU: An ex-convict died in a suspected burglary at a house in Jalan Storey at 5.55am on Thursday.
    The suspect who has drug related offenses stopped breathing while being held down by his would be victims.
    Johor Baru south district police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said police received a call of a suspicious character lurking on the roof top of a house.
    However, the suspect miss a footing and fell through the roof of the house.
    "Three males in the house aged between 44 and 63 years old managed to tie up the injured suspect.
    "The 43-year-old suspect was found with a 5cm gash wound at the back of his head and a 2cm gash wound on his left eyebrow.
    "The suspect, found bare-chested and clad in shorts, is believed to have been assaulted with a hard object after having both his hands and legs tied," said Sulaiman.
    "The suspect was sent to Sultan Aminah Hospital for post mortem and the three occupants of the house have been brought in for investigation under Section 302.
    "Citizen have the right to perform citizen's arrest under the Criminal Procedure Code but not to act as judge and jury in delivering punishment," stressed Sulaiman.
