Chinese vessel to resume MH370 search

KUALA LUMPUR: A Chinese ship, Dong Hai Jiu 101 will embark on a mission to recover an instrument (SLH-ProSAS-60 towfish) which was detached from the vessel during its previous search for the vanished Malaysia Airlines MH370 jetliner.
Australian Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Darren Chester who met Chinese Consular General, Lei Kezhong, on board the vessel today, said the ship would be ready to carry out its mission in the next few days.
"I wish the crew well in both the recovery mission and their ongoing efforts to locate MH370 in the 120,000 sq km search area," he said in a statement today.
The statement was made available in the Australia Joint Agency Co-ordination Centre (JACC) website.
Chester also thanked the Chinese Government for its contribution, and the captain and crew for their efforts in the search for MH370.
Last month, the Chinese vessel's search operations suffered a setback after it was reported it lost its main instrument (SLH-ProSAS-60 towfish) for scanning the seabed.
Flight MH370 with 239 people on board disappeared from the radar during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is leading the search for the aircraft. — Bernama
