TUARAN: The weather condition in Sabah is expected to be humid with intermittent rain beginning tomorrow until next Thursday, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Madius Tangau.
He said the information is based on the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecast.
"Today rainfall is expected in several areas including Sandakan, west coast and interior areas," he told reporters after launching an academic award programme organised by the Tuaran District Office here, today.
In this regard, he said, cloud seeding operations which were intended to overcome the haze that had been polluting several areas in the state would not proceed.
On the cloud seeding operation that had earlier been carried out with the cooperation of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, he said it was to induce rain in Beaufort right up to Penampang.
However, the operation only managed to trigger rain for 30 minutes as there was insufficient towering cumulus, he said.
Meanwhile, Madius who is also Tuaran Member of Parliament advised the people not to carry out open burning as the fire could readily spread particularly during hot weather.
He said five districts – Beaufort, Keningau, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Beluran have been categorised as level one or 'Alert level' after recording the maximum temperature of between 35°C and 37°C for three consecutive days. — Bernama
