7-month-old baby returns home after liver transplant in China

KULAI: A seven-month old baby boy who underwent a liver transplant in Shanghai, China returned home late last night.
The infant, together with his parents, touched down at Senai airport about 10.30pm.
Mat Tarmizi Zali, 39, who donated a portion of his liver to his son Muhamad Fakrullah Rayqal, said he was happy that the operation was successful and his son is recovering well.
He added that the operation was performed at Hospital Renji in Shanghai March this year.
"I must thank the Johor Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR) chief Datuk Seri Lee Ban Heng and Johor police for all the help rendered. Without their help, the trip and the operation would not have happened," said Mat Tarmizi.
He also thanked the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia who provided all the assistance to make their trip to China smooth and doing the necessary arrangements for the surgery.
Mat Tarmizi, a Maritime officer from Senggerang, Batu Pahat said he was ever grateful to all those who gave a helping hand to the family at their hour of need.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said this was an initiative of the Johor PVR who went out of their way to give a helping hand.

The transplant which cost RM150,000 was borne by the Johor PVR and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia.
Lee, meanwhile said the Johor PVR have so far helped some 19 children undergo liver transplants with Muhamad Fakrullah being the youngest of them all.
