Car accessories shop worker claims trial for possessing a revolver

JOHOR BARU: A car accessories shop worker, Shalihoddin Azman, 34, claimed trial in the Sessions Court today to two charges of possessing a revolver and 30 live bullets on the North-South highway, near Kempas, earlier this month.
On the first charge he is alleged to have a Smith & Wesson revolver on the highway, near Kempas, at 12pm on May 15.
The charge is under Section 8 of the Firearm Act 1971 which carries a maximum 14-year jail term and whipping, on conviction.
On the second charge, he is alleged to have 30 live bullets of .38LRN calibre at the same time and place. The offence carries a maximum 7 years' jail or fine of not more than RM10,000, or both, on conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz set June 27 for next mention of the case. No bail was granted.
DPP Safiah Abdil Aziz prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Hazza Khalid.
