KUALA KANGSAR: Following condemnation by various quarters, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Perak deputy chairman, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (pix) finally apologised over his alleged unkind remarks at a ceramah held in Kampung Sayong Lembah, here, on Tuesday.
However, Mohammad Nizar who is also Changkat Jering assemblyman, blamed the media which he claimed misinterpreted his speech at the ceramah. "In my speech, I had asked the attendees to recite the Al-fatihah verse for the late Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad.
"I also prayed for his soul to be blessed and the whole family to have the patience and strength (in facing the loss).
"However, the news reports the next day showed that the media had deliberately made their own assumptions and interpretations which were far off the real intention and meaning of my speech," he said in a statement, here, today.
Mohammad Nizar said his apology was unconditional and out of his sincere heart which sympathised with what was destined by Allah.
"As a husband and father, I too could feel the deep grief of the family," he said.
Mohammad Nizar at the public ceramah on Tuesday, was quoted as saying that "Allah wants the people of Kuala Kangsar to 'teach' BN through the Kuala Kangsar by-election", besides linking the helicopter crash in which the incumbent MP Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar was killed as punishment from Allah for BN.
The Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat by-election on June 18 will see a four-cornered contest between BN, PAS, Amanah and an independent. — Bernama
