Senate observes minute's silence for Sarawak helicopter crash victims

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Negara today observed a minute's silence for six victims who perished in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.
Senate President Datuk S. A. Vigneswaran, at the beginning of the session requested members to pay their respects to the crash victims, and pray for them.
"With great sorrow and sadness, I would like to extend my condolences to the family members of Sungai Besar MP Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, as well as the families of four others who were killed in the helicopter crash," he said.
On May 5, a helicopter carrying the six victims who left Betong for Kuching at 4.12pm, crashed shortly after take-off at the Batang Lupar river.
Apart from Noriah, who was plantation industries and commodities deputy minister and Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar, the others killed were Noriah's husband, Asmuni Abdullah, her bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun, ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaram Annamalai, and Filipino pilot, Captain Rudolf Rex Ragas. — Bernama
