PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would not be affected if the government decides to stop funding the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
" I will not feel the loss when the seizure is made.
" I am used to and understand a life without privileges, however I am saddened to think of the future of this beloved country," he said in a blog post today.
He was responding to remarks made by Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun who on Thursday urged the government to stop funding the foundation which Mahathir has helmed since its inception.
The youth leader said this follows Mahathir's campaign to topple the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Responding to Khairul's criticism, Mahathir said it was the government's right to use the mandate given by the people in any way.
However Mahathir said he was saddened that such comments were uttered by a youth leader who would one day assume the mantle of leadership.
