Penang MACC arrests senior government officer over misuse of authority

GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today arrested a senior officer of the Implementation and Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department in Penang over an investigation into a case of misuse of authority, according to a source.
The source said the officer was held at his office at about noon and taken to the Penang MACC office to have a statement recorded.
The man was arrested over the investigation into misuse of authority involving a project to supply uniforms valued at about RM25,000 in 2013 when he was serving in another government department, the source told Bernama.
It said the MACC had been onto the case since last year.
Meanwhile, Penang MACC director Datuk M. Samarajoo, when contacted, confirmed the arrest. — Bernama
