Leaders arrive for International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy

SEPANG: Several leaders from around the world began arriving here today to attend the inaugural International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy to be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), which will kick off tomorrow until Aug 18.
The first leader who arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) was the Nauru President Baron Waqa and accompanied by his wife Louisa Waqa, at 3.40am.
Upon arrival, the President was given a red carpet welcome and walked past a guard of honour mounted by the Sixth Royal Ranger Regiment.
He was greeted by the Management Transformation and Modernisation Unit (Mampu) Deputy Director-General Dr Aizi Razman Ismail.
Other leaders who are scheduled to arrive today are the King of Swaziland King Mswati III and his consort, Singapore Thailand Deputy Prime Minister Visanu Krue-Ngam, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Maldives Deputy President Abdulla Jihad.
Meanwhile, Thailand Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-Cha is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
The three-day conference themed "Transforming Nations Through Creativity and Innovation" will focus on creativity and innovation in the formulation and implementation of national policies and initiatives.
The conference, held in conjunction with the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) International Week, will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions by national leaders, eminent speakers, and global experts from all around the world.
Approximately 3,000 participants from around the world are expected to attend the conference, including national leaders from Commonwealth member countries, Asean nations, and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The leaders are also scheduled to attend the 2016 Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) Biennial Conference which will also be held at PICC from Aug 18 to 20. — Bernama
