SPM students among four detained for motorcycle theft

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two Form Five students who will be sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) next month were among four teenagers detained for motorcycle theft last night.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the four suspects, aged between 17 and 20, were detained in an operation carried out from 10pm to 4.30am at Bukit Mertajam and Machang Bubok, here.
"Two others detained were fish mongers while police are looking for another 20-year-old suspect to facilitate investigations," he said here today.
The four suspects, believed to have been actively involved in motorcycle theft in Seberang Perai Tengah for a few months, also tested positive for drugs.
During the raid police seized three stolen motorcycles, motorcycle components and tools used for stealing motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Nik Ros Azhan said police had also detained three members of 'Geng Lat' in Machang Bubok and Kupang, Kedah at 4pm on Monday for their involvement in motorcycle theft around Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Utara.
He said in a follow up operation police recovered three stolen motorcycles in Machang Bubok and components of motorcycles at a parking lot of a motel in Alma.
The three suspects, aged between 21 and 27, tested positive for drugs and had previous criminal records for motorcycle theft since early this year. — Bernama
