BANGI: The RM30 million allocation in Budget 2017 will help to streamline tahfiz studies and provide a conducive environment for learning.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir (pix) said there are 547 private tahfiz schools, 20 state tahfiz schools, 10 state tahfiz colleges and over 400 unregistered private tahfiz schools.

"Many are established on donated (wakaf) properties and thus do not have adequate facilities for a conducive learning environment.

"I will study the list of tahfiz schools eligible to receive the allocation but they must be registered with the authorities" he told reporters at Jakim's media appreciation event at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), here today. — Bernama
