PETALING JAYA: Just days ahead of Bersih 5, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix) appeared in a short promotional video donning a Bersih t-shirt and calling for all Malaysians to join the rally.
"I hope all Malaysians will join in the demonstration organised by (electoral reform group) Bersih 2.0, because they aim to look for solutions to save the country.
"This is my wish, and I hope every citizen will provide their full support and take part in the rally," he said in the 1-minute-38-second clip.
The video was posted by Teja assemblyman Chang Lih Kang on his Facebook page today.
Chang, in his accompanying status, said: "From denouncing street demonstrations to calling the public to join one, Tun has realised that street demonstrations is the right of the rakyat under the Federal Constitution".
Dr Mahathir, who is now Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, is expected to make an appearance at the Bersih 5 mega rally this Saturday.
He had also previously made a brief appearance at the Bersih 4 rally (which had called for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's resignation) last year with his wife Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
