Fahmi Reza arrested towards end of Bersih 5 rally

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested graphic artist Fahmi Reza (pix) today towards the end of the Bersih 5.
Fahmi, who was present at the Bersih 5 rally, was arrested at KLCC around 6pm.
"I just got detained at KLCC after the demonstration ended and I have been brought to the city police headquarters," he wrote on his Facebook account.
This came after police had confirmed that six others including Hishamuddin Rais and Umno youth leader Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah were detained earlier today.
City police chief Commissioner Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said a total of six individuals were detained for various offenses.
"Armand Azha, Bersih's Hishamuddin Rais and DAP's Socialist Youth international secretary and Pasir Pinji's assembly person Howard Lee Chuan How were arrested under Section 147 and 511 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement today.
Amar Singh added the remaining suspects who were all locals were detained under Section 143 of the Civil Aviation Act, Section 6(1) of the Explosives Act, Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
He said about 15,500 Bersih 5 and 2,500 Red Shirts participants took part in the rallies today.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar commended the police on a job well done on his twitter handle. 
"Congratulations to the PDRM in ensuring peace and safety was maintained at the Bersih 5 rally today," he said.
