Bright, yellow and beautiful

FOR its 50th anniversary, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) received a meaningful “congratulatory gift” from one of its “working partners” – Blackmores. Over 80 employees from Blackmores travelled to Kuala Lumpur to give the country’s oldest cancer organisation a makeover.
MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION
Having collaborated with the NCSM for over 10 years, Blackmores funded the paint and tools for the makeover project. The NCSM building now wears a new coat of bright yellow.
According to NCSM president and medical director Dr Saunthari Somasundaram, the colour “stands for friendship, happiness and energy” and represents the long term relationship between NCSM and Blackmores.
“For a decade, we have maintained a great partnership (with NCSM), starting with the production of ‘What Book of Cancer’, an informative book about cancer for children. This was followed by the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, as well as the production of the said book in Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia,” said Blackmores Malaysia country manager Eddy Ong.
AFFECTING LIVES
“As a leading health supplement brand in Malaysia, Blackmores strives to make a difference in society, especially during challenging times. This is why we are here today in full force, with staff across the country,” added Ong. He also commented that this endeavour meant a lot to the team. “We hope that with a fresh ‘face’, this leading cancer organisation can continue their effort in minimising the threat of cancer.”
NCSM provides cancer and health screenings for the public, wellness activities for cancer patients and survivors, as well as a temporary home for child cancer patients. Apart from the building makeover, Blackmores contributed RM100,000 to aid the overall costs in maintaining the organisation and the building.
