Great Vision Charity Association continues to help those in need

KUALA LUMPUR: Due to continuous hard work from Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA), the Shopping Buddy Program continues to be a success.
The association contributes RM100 in the form of shopping vouchers to different families in need and takes them on a shopping trip.
This time, ten households in need of help from PPR Pantai Ria, Pantai Dalam were selected to participate in the Shopping Buddy Program. Those selected were mainly from households with a monthly income of less than RM1000.
Mr Leen Eng Hua and his wife was among those selected. The old couple takes care of their mentally disabled son and live hand to mouth by selling organic vegetables which Mr Lee grows on an empty plot of land near the couple's home.
During the grocery shopping trip, volunteers were on hand to help with the selection of goods and keeping track of the total cost of purchases.
Karena Kow a student volunteer commented, "Through this volunteering experience, I realized that there is a lot of people in need of help. I was surprised to find out some families with a household of 7 members could not afford to get a refrigerator."
After the grocery shopping, the families were treated to a lunch before being chauffeured back to their homes.
Mr Lee and his wife were grateful for the help received, treated some of the volunteers to fresh vegetables from their garden. The volunteers were touched by this unexpected gesture.
