Two men detained for possession of heroin

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police detained two men here on Monday and found four packets containing crystal objects, believed to be heroin worth about RM1,500, from one of them.
The men, both locals aged 44 and 46 years, were each riding a motorcycle at Jalan Rozhan, Machang Bubok, when five policemen, on their rounds, stopped them about 3.30pm for behaving suspiciously.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid, when contacted, said police found the four packets in the trouser pocket of one of the suspects.
"The heroin is worth about RM1,500 on the market," he said, adding the two suspects arrested have four criminal records on crime and drug cases respectively.
Nik Ros Azhan said the urine tests on both suspects were positive for methamphetamine.
He added the case was being investigated under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
