More visitors expected for Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta next year

GEORGE TOWN: More than 200,000 visitors are expected at the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in February next year.
Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer, Ooi Chok Yan, said the previous editions attracted some 190,000 visitors.
"We believe there will be more people coming this time around," he said today at the launch of the mini hot air balloon fiesta which is a preview of the main event.
Also present was Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The main two-day fiesta will commence on Feb 4 at the polo ground here.
Hot air balloon enthusiasts can also indulge in a ride for RM50 per person during the fiesta.
AKA Balloon Sdn CEO Nur Izzati Khairudin said the fiesta cost about RM900,000 to organise.
She said 15 colourful hot air balloons will be on display while a "Night Glow" show featuring 10 balloons lighted with music and light will be held in the evenings.
She said international balloonists from Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil Japan, Philippines and Thailand will participate.
