Company files police report on crane climbing youth

IPOH: Another stunt by a youth who climbed up a crane to make a video recording went viral on social media.
In the 1:22-minute video clip, titled "Viral aksi berani remaja lelaki pulak panjat kren" (Daredevil youth climbs crane), was uploaded by user "Viral Malaysia" on Dec 31.
In the video, the youth was seen recording himself climbing up the crane. When he reaches the vertex of the crane, he sits down and continues recording himself.
From the video, the Greentown area can be seen in the background.
Attempts to contact Ipoh district police for comment was futile at press time.
Meanwhile, the developer of the project, Syarikat Sycal Berhad lodged a police report on the incident at the Sungai Senam police station here today.
Its General Manager Mohd Pauzi Mad Isa said no permission was given to anyone to climb up the crane at the construction site.

"The act by the person contravenes the law which is tantamount to trespassing into the site.
"We leave it to the police to investigate and the company will conduct an internal investigation to find out how the man could have entered the site with the presence of security guards, " he added.
Last Friday, a different video was posted on YouTube showing a group of young people climbing up the Ipoh signboard on top of Gunung Lang, Jalan Kuala Kangsar.
The youngsters also posted photographs thanking the city council for giving them permission to do so.
However, Ipoh mayor Datuk Zamri Man issued a strongly-worded statement, saying that the signboard was off-limits and that the council had never allowed anyone to climb it because it was dangerous.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the matter was being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering the safety of others.
The eight youths involved in the Ipoh signboard stunt have surrendered themselves to the police and had their statements taken on Monday morning.
If found guilty, they could be jailed for not more than three months or fined RM500, or both.
