Floods force more evacuations in Terengganu as at 1pm

KUALA TERENGGANU: The erratic weather is causing concern in flood-hit Terengganu where more people have been evacuated as at 1pm, 1,712 compared to 798 as at 8am.

The districts of Besut and Setiu, which had just recovered from the floods, were struck again following heavy rain overnight.

According to the Welfare Department application Infobanjir, 1,712 evacuees from 553 families were being accommodated at 25 relief centres in five districts as at 1pm.

Besut had the highest number of evacuees at 751, housed at 11 relief centres, compared to 474 at six centres this morning.

In Hulu Terengganu, the number of evacuees rose to 553 from 210 while in Setiu the number of evacuees stood at 294.

The number of evacuees in Dungun and Marang remained unchanged, at 84 and 30 respectively. — Bernama
