PETALING JAYA: Go cashless for speed and convenience when commuting on the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line beginning tomorrow after the one-month free ride expires, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said in a statement today.
Although commuters have an option to use cash or Touch N Go cards for their ride between Sungai Buloh to Semantan (Phase 1), Rapid Rail encouraged the public to go cashless through its monthly or weekly travel cards for a better service experience.
"With the expiry of the promotional free rides, commuters will be charged accordingly when taking the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line from tomorrow. Only tokens and Touch N Go cards can be used to enter the ticketing gates.
"Passengers can purchase their travel tokens from the Ticket Vending Machines. For cashless mode, passengers can purchase the regular Touch N Go cards, the MRT monthly cards or the MRT weekly cards from the customer service offices at the stations for travel convenience," it added.
However, MyRapid Cards are only acceptable after the opening of Phase 2, which will be between Semantan and Kajang, in July.
Fares are priced between RM1.20-RM3.90 for cash mode while for cashless mode it is RM1.20-RM3.40 for the Phase 1 operations. MRT feeder bus services will cost RM1 per trip and payments are via Touch N Go cards.
"Students, senior citizens and those with disabilities will be accorded a 50% discount for both the MRT and feeder bus fares. They could purchase the concession tokens from the customer services offices at any stations," Rapid Rail said.
