Date fixed for Penang highway shooter case

GEORGE TOWN: Two Sessions Courts here have fixed March 22 for mention in the case of former bodyguard Ja'afar Halid, 37, charged with three counts of murders, five counts of attempted murder and one of causing hurt.
Sessions Court Judge Roslan Hamid fixed the date pending the medical and chemist reports after the case was brought up today.
In this court, Ja'afar faced three counts of attempted murder against Arivarni Krishnan, 33, Nurul Huda Ab Aziz, 38, Lee Hong Boon, 32.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Huda Idris appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.
He was later brought before Sessions Court Judge Irwan Suaibon who also fixed March 22 for mention pending the reports.
The accused here faces two counts of attempted murder against Mohamed Amirul Amin Mohamed Amir, 28, and Puoh Bee Joo, 32, and the case was prosecuted by DPP Lim Saw Sim.
He was accused of commiting the offences at about 7.30pm at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu here.
Ja'afar also faces three counts of killing businessman Datuk Ong Teik Kwong, 32, Choi Hon Ming, 32, and Senthil Murugiah, 38 on the same date, time and place.
The mention dates for the murder and of causing hurt against Lim Boon Leng, 32, was fixed on the same date by the court last week.
