KUALA LUMPUR: The lorry driver, who was assaulted by a group of men at a condominium in Ampang, said his employer told him his life was under threat.
The victim, Nasrul Faiz Zulfahmi, 25, said the incident was triggered when he accidentally reversed his lorry into a parked Mercedes-Benz on Jan 14.
"What I can recall from the incident is that when I hit the car, an unidentified man approached me.
"The man repeated his question several times until i admitted to being the lorry driver and the accident was because of me.
"Then he raised his hand and hit me. He pulled me like he was looking for a fight. I pulled away and wondered why he hit me," Nasrul said at the solidarity gathering by lorry drivers in Sungai Besi today.
Following that, he said another group joined in to assault him.
Nasrul also denied that he was rude to the assailants. He does not know if anyone ordered the attack.
He said all he could remember was being hit by one man and kicked by two others.
The victim further revealed that his employer said that the assailants had made threats against taking the matter to the authorities.
"My boss said they were like big-time gangsters," said Nasrul, adding that he eventually lodged a report after being urged to do so by police.
Nasrul said he began driving lorries in March last year and was helping his parents, who are still employed, to support the family.
He said the attack left him with bruises and a gash on his neck which required 13 stitches.
His employers covered his medical costs which came up to RM1,000.
In the 2 minute 49 second video, the victim, a lorry driver clad in red, could be seen defending himself helplessly as he was pinned to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched.
Another man, believed to be the victim's counterpart, was also seen being manhandled but fled from the scene.
