Police form task force to look for missing pastor

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have formed a task force headed by Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat to search for abducted pastor, Raymond Koh Keng Joo.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police have recorded statements from eight individuals in the course of the investigations.
"We urge any witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation," he told a press conference today, adding that at the moment police have no major leads on the probe.
Koh was abducted last Monday by a group of masked men along Jalan SS4B/10, Petaling Jaya, less than 100m from the police housing complex.
He was driving a silver car bearing the licence plate ST 5515 D. The family is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information on his whereabouts.
In 2011, Koh who was executive director of community group Harapan Komuniti ran into issues with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) when he organised a multi-racial charity event attended by Muslims and non-Muslims at the Damansara Utama Methodist Church here.
The event was disrupted when Jais accompanied by police raided the church following claims that the organising group had held the gathering in an attempt to allegedly entice Muslims to convert to Christianity.
The issue fizzled out due to lack of evidence on the allegations.
Meanwhile, on a separate case, Khalid also said police have started an investigation for the wrongful confinement of persons against investigating officers who failed to follow a court order to release S. Balamurugan, 44, who died at the North Klang police headquarters on Feb 7.
He added police will seek more details from the doctor who carried out a second post-mortem on Balamurugan.
"The post-mortem report is vague. It says pulmonary heart disease and blunt trauma but we do not know where (which part of the body) it was inflicted whether it caused the death," he said.
Earlier, Balamurugan was taken to a magistrate's court to be remanded, which was denied after the magistrate saw him vomit blood.
The court ordered Balamurugan to be taken to a hospital or released but police took him to the police headquarters where he died.
