A WOMAN who allegedly hypnotised a housewife before robbing her off RM10,000 worth of jewellery, was caught and tied to a tree after the victim spotted her.
In the 10am incident at a market in Jalan Wawasan 2, Pusat Bandar Puchong, police received a distress call from members of the public upon noticing that the 56-year-old suspect was tied to a tree near the scene.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said in an incident earlier in Aug 2016, the suspect with another woman approached the 58-year-old housewife on the pretext of requesting medical assistance for one of their daughters.
"The victim followed the duo to a place nearby and was asked to hand over her gold bracelet, crystal locket and gold chain to the suspects," he said.
Megat Mohamad added, according to the investigators, the victim was not aware that she was handing over her belongings during the incident.
He said the suspects do not have any prior record and have been detained to be investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
