GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) has told an aide to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, not to compare him with her.
He said his post as a non-executive director of the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) was held in his capacity as the Penang chief minister.
He said the aide, Rizal Mansor, should understand the difference between him, who was elected by the people, and Rosmah.
"Do not drag me into this issue," he said at a press conference today.
In a statement on Wednesday evening, Rizal had ticked off DAP assemblyman Yeo Bee Yin after she asked Rosmah to resign as patron of Permata, an agency under the Prime Minister's Department on early childhood development.
Rizal had reportedly told Yeo to ask if Lim was an expert on water due to his post in PBAPP.
In defending his post, Lim also pointed to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Hanipah who also held several state posts.
"The position of a CM and MB allows the person to hold other state posts as well," he said.
On the " I Love Penang Run" in Butterworth on April 9, Lim said the response was encouraging with more than 5,000 registered so far.
"Those who are interested should sign up soon," he added.
