Lorry driver fined RM3.5k over road rage

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver was fined RM3,500 or four months jail in default by the Magistrate's Court here today for breaking the side mirror of a lorry and glass panel of a toll booth.
Magistrate Atiqah Abd Karim @ Husaini meted out the punishment to S. Tharmaraja, 43, after the accused pleaded guilty to committing the offences.
The father of three had smashed the glass panel of a toll booth and side mirror of a lorry belonging to Ashraf Azhar, 24, at the Puchong South Toll Plaza, Bukit Puchong here at 11.15pm on Feb 18.
He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code and was liable to be jailed up to two years or fined or both.
Deputy public prosecutor Mary Phoon Keat Mee appeared for the prosecution while Tharmaraja pleaded for a lenient sentence saying he was remorseful over his actions. — Bernama
