Nazri appeals for Power Rangers not to be banned (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has appealed to the Film Censorship Board not to ban the movie "Power Rangers".
"I don't think adults will be influenced by the so-called lesbian scene in the movie.
"But the board can issue a PG13 rating if it is worried about children being influenced," Nazri told reporters during a press conference held at the parliament's media centre here.
Nazri added parents are the ones who should determine which movie their children could watch, and not the Censorship Board entirely.
Nazri pointed out that earlier there was a brouhaha over the movie Beauty and the Beast.
"I've seen the part which they claimed to have a LGBT scene. I only saw a fat man dancing and had a good laugh.
"Even our stand-up comedians make some feminine moves during their performances. It's all a show and let's take it as that.
"I feel the Censorship Board is over-reacting and something should be done to rein them in," he added.
Meanwhile, theSun contacted Grace Tan, marketing manager of TGV Pictures Sdn Bhd, who gave this statement: "The film is currently under Censorship Board review.
"As it is currently under review, we are unable to comment about its status. However, we have not heard any official reports of a ban or cancellation."
Tan said that a press screening of the film scheduled on Wednesday night would be proceeding as usual, unless they are advised otherwise.
She added that TGV expects to know the decision after the review by Wednesday afternoon.
