MALACCA: Police have initiated an investigation into a case where a Thai masseuse claimed she was raped by an immigration officer and forced to perform oral sex on him at a detention centre in Alor Gajah, earlier this month.
Malacca police Crime Investigation Department chief SAC Kamaluddin Kassim when contacted, confirmed the case and agreed that the state police contingent received a police report.
"We received the police report and the CID is in the midst of investigating the alleged claims," he told theSun.
The incident came to light when the woman, in her 30's told her sister in her late 20's, that they were detained when immigration personnel raided a massage centre in Melaka Raya on March 7 at 11pm.
The duo initially went to the massage centre to meet up with victim's sibling, who worked there.
The following day, about five women including the victim and her siblings were brought to the Machap Umboo immigration depot.
It was reported that the victim had been sexually assaulted and was forced to perform oral sex on an immigration officer who was recording statements separately from the other detainees.
The officer was also alleged to have demanded a massage, and then forced himself on her without a condom.
The victim, who is married to a Malaysian, was later released after she showed proof that she had valid documents.
It is learnt that the victim's sister lodged a report at the Melaka Tengah police station.
It was also reported that state Immigration director Mohd Fauzi Abdullah, who was also contacted for clarification, declined to comment, adding that the allegation was being investigated.
Meawhile, The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has started its investigation into the claim of rape committed on a Thai
woman detainee at the Machap Umboo Detention Depot in Malacca.
Its chairman, Datuk Yaacob Md Sam said the EAIC viewed seriously the allegation made by the complainant and would investigate it transparently,
without prejudice and impartially.
He said the investigation was to determine whether there was misconduct involving any of the Immigration enforcement officers and non-compliance to the
depot's set operating procedure.
"The investigation is also carried out based on the Malaysia Immigration Department circular on the handling and management of detainees at the detention depot involved," he said in a statement today.
